Safe and community-oriented, Somerset is a great neighborhood to raise a family. You’ll find beautiful homes with sweeping views of the Seattle skyline, Lake Washington, and the Olympic Mountains. Somerset residents are 10 minutes away from downtown Bellevue -- a shopper’s paradise with everything from high-end designer boutiques to national brands such as Nordstrom, Lululemon, Crate & Barrel. In terms of dining, you’ll find nearly every popular, national restaurant chain and many of the best Chinese and Japanese restaurants. Many of the popular local Seattle chefs have also opened restaurants in Bellevue.

The residents in Somerset are predominately wealthy Caucasian and Asian families. Many of these people work in finance, medicine, or high-tech. There is also a growing population of affluent, foreign-born individuals from Asia.

Home values

Somerset is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the Greater Seattle area. The average home listing is $969K, which is 3,047 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Inventory is very low (under 10 houses on the market). The average rent is $3,165.

Somerset is on the Eastside so your commute to Redmond, Bellevue, or Issaquah ranges from 10-20 minutes. If you work in Seattle, your commute could be 20-45 minutes, depending on traffic.

Primarily residential with no downtown area, you definitely need a car to run errands. There are no local businesses within walking distance, public transit is very limited, and there are few bike routes.

There is 1 elementary school (Somerset), 1 middle school (Tyee), and 1 high school (Newport).  The schools are part of the Bellevue school district, which has a reputation for being one of the best districts in Washington State.
